regression toward the mean

The desire to please others is the most anti-Creative force on earth. Its mirror, anti-conformity, is the same force dressed in counter garb.

Humans stagger through life, pleasing and displeasing, working both sides of this one nauseous road.

The purpose appears to be the receiving -- not the giving -- of love and acceptance. Inflate me so I will feel alive.

How odd! How human! Please let me please you! We may as well commit seppuku.

  1. Correct.

I too have witnessed an astounding number of people whose Number One drive was to be accepted through pleasing others. Perhaps the doctors are right in that these people never could please their mothers, who knows? Whatever the reason, the real tragedy is that they never seem to achieve the comfort they seek.

In some odd way, it all seems related to the adage about not being able to love anyone else until you can love yourself.

  2. I appreciate your comment, Gregory. Our minds seem to run on parallel tracks. We tend to trust our own vision rather than the hive mind.

It seems that wisdom/knowledge will reveal itself if one dispels the internal eternal chitchat and allows room for clear vision. "Rooftop chatter" I think some of the Buddhists call it.

Yes. "Love your neighbor as YOURSELF." One must love oneself first.

    Thanks, Gregory.
