The history of the nation-state has been that anyone who raises a significant ruckus against the ruling powers will be silenced. Silencing action includes ridicule, threat, co-option, and murder, the latter done either through anonymity or openly by the state, in which case it is not called murder, but execution.
We are a nation of sheep, led to fleecing and to slaughter every day. As a reward we are given enough chits to trade for our sheep essentials at the sheep store owned, operated, and financed, not by wolves, but sheep with balls and fangs.
The spiritual advisers of yesteryear said yep, that's the way it is, so render your butt to Caesar and give your soul to God: a Prey-and-Pray convenience store on every spiritual corner.
This entire planet is based upon eating and being eaten. Every eater considers it just and right and proper that the eaten maintain steady entry into their maw and gullet. Few eaters look to see they also are the eaten.
In the sheepish food cycle mentality of the planet, we refuse to see that the god we worship has great grinding jaws. Whether it be the god of materiality, the god of success, the god of excess, or even the god of love. For what is love but the laying down of one's life for others so they may successfully feed?
Rumors are flying about the coming apocalypse. Not to worry. It's nothing new. It's just Prey-and-Pray on a larger scale. You'll fit right in. And become part of the cosmic grin.
"Apocalypso Honey, wipe your mouth. You've got something on your chin!" "Oh, no problem, that was just George."
Chomp chomp slurp slurp -- the mantra of our age.

A grim view of our exit-ence. Thank god-ness I know you to be a life-affirming and loving hu-man, George. You, like Pete Seeger, recognize the horrors of us mortals and our Absurd lives, singing and smiling and spreading good cheer all the while.
ReplyDelete"My life flows on in endless song
Above earth's lamentations,
I hear the real, though far-off hymn
That hails a new creation."
Long live the complexities!
George, I liked this post very much. We need to be reminded of this exact kinda shit!
ReplyDeleteYour description of the 'sheepish food cycle mentality' rings all too true.
Namaste.
P.S. I received a postcard from a friend recently. He red-stamped it CONFIDENTIAL. Taped to its back is a cartoon showing a young mantis kneeling by his bed praying the prayer of the predator prey: "...and please don't let Mommy eat me in my sleep." Since we are all in this together, we may as well laugh about it. All are members of this laborious gustatory union. SOLID FARE-ITY FOREVER!
ReplyDeleteWhere art our shepard? Why is the flock cannibalizing itself and consuming all of the "grass" at the same time? What is to become of our common "pasture", the Earth?
