The World's First Ever Baptist Crime Novel

The World's First Ever Baptist Crime Novel is now available. My sister, Ginny Stewart, and I are co-authors. Cathy Gazda designed the marvelous cover art.

Here is a synopsis.

"The familiar rhythms of the little church community in this sleepy southern town are thrown into chaotic disarray when their preacher, the Reverend Milton T. Bagston, takes a dive in more ways than one. Folk are jolted out of spiritual sleep, forced by circumstances to accept the aid of the disreputable: Luther Huckleberry and his sister Millie, spiritual criminologist Viola Trumpett, and Creek shaman Henry Wide Bear in saving their church from physical and spiritual ruin."

Reviews:

Right from the start, The World’s First Ever Baptist Crime Novel thrusts readers into an engaging mystery—and it does more. A broad variety of colorful characters present theological and practical views on life from perspectives angelic and demonic, liberal and conservative, Christian and Native. Unlike the divisive voices so often heard today, the characters in this novel winsomely invite the reader to think for herself. Whether you are a detective- novel- fan, or a coffee-cup theologian, or a lover of the American South and its cultures, you will find this novel engaging and uplifting. -- Kenneth McIntosh, author of the Crime Scene Club mystery novels

A real mixture of characters that might make up a church in your neighborhood, some villainous and others dedicated to God's work. A well written novel of hidden secrets and evil in high places. As the old saying goes, "The Devil is in the details." -- Marion Hammond, Associate Pastor, New Hope Baptist Church
