the eternal sinner

"I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" (Matthew 9:13)

In this case, I would rather be a sinner than righteous.
When righteous, we have very little capacity for change,
feeling we have the entire universe contained within our teacup.
A sinner is one who has great capacity,
who quaffs huge drafts of the unknown every day.
Jesus loves the sinners, spurns the righteous.
"Let the dead bury the dead," he says.
You can't do anything with the righteous
but the sinners are prime ground for great Transfiguration.
I pray we may be eternal sinners eternally transforming
always walking into and through the open door.

  1. This idea relates to your last post on hypocrisy in that those committing the atrocities are richous in their actions. It seems to me many of my older friends have become content in thier beliefs and feel quite righteous about their views, unwilling to examine new paradigms/ideas.

I like hanging out with "sinners." Their minds are open and fresh with new ideas. Exciting to be around.
