Qui ambulat simpliciter
ambulat confidenter.
He that walks simply
walks confidently.
-- Proverbs 10: 9
My left rear hoof needs a bone or two broken, aligned, reset. It will be done. After the surgeon gives me the boot and I accept it as gracefully as possible, without too much kicking against the pricks (vivid imagery with its dual meaning in my unsanctified mind as I entertained myself in church with Bible punnery as a young man), I can perhaps walk more simply and more confidently.
Solvitur Ambulando (salvation through walking around) has been my motto throughout life. If Life imitates Art (such as in "How Great Thou Art"), then my left rear foot in the spiritual world has also been hobbled. Some kind of holding back? Such as Achilles' mother holding him by the heel for his cosmic dip, the holding part forever vulnerable to life's vicissitudes? The undipped unbaptized part being not only one's place of wounding but also the spot where one gets a grip on one's humanness? Ah! You see how my mind wanders and rambles, always walking around, always responding with a vigorous Yes! to the bully question "Wanna make something of it?"
Solvitur Ambulando! Soon I will have my hoof broken and then reclaimed, redeemed. It has already happened to my heart more than once, so I kind of know what to expect. My heart gets around pretty well, walking through most any landscape. I expect my hoof will do the same.

What is the sound of one foot walking? I hope you heel quickly, George.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you in your healing, George. --Steve
ReplyDeleteYes, blessings on the hoof indeed! But with that said, it is a good reminder that most of us have to limp through life in some manner.

Love to you, big brother. No wheel chair, boot, or brace will hold you down for long. No matter how confined you are, you will always be kicking and walking.
ReplyDeleteThinking those hooves are made for walkin' George. Heal fast. Love you.

Thank you all for your good hearts and well wishing. Where would any of us be without each other? (Don't answer that. It's a loaded question.)
