Are we truly approaching the end time? Is the human race about to cross the finish line, with any remnant running with the screaming meemies into a long dark night? Will everyone blow their nukes simultaneously? Will all the folk at the checkout counter pull their weapons and kill everyone ahead of them, especially the lady with all the coupons buried deep in the bottom of her purse? Has Gaia finally reached irritation saturation with the multitudinous flea bites Homo Erectus has imposed upon her and is about to apocalypt us into submission? Is the calendar coming to an end, no more pages to flip, no next month's picture with its cute kittens?
Are all the doomsday predictions about to come true? Are we about to commit mass suicide and the moon turn to blood and Jesus split the skies with a sick headache and a thirst for justice? Should you be stocking up on crates of Spam? Have we painted ourselves into a corner and are about to die from the toxic fumes? Will we end with a bang and a whimper? Is it a self-fulfilling prophecy from which someone will have to pry our cold dead fingers? Are our fates sealed? Is the human species one more experiment the universe has tried, is trying, with non-publishable results?
Are we about to dance the Apocalypso?
We live in two worlds -- the world of Appearance and the world of the Unseen. The realm of the Unseen gives birth to, is the source of the world of Appearance. The world of Appearance has always been on fire. Ever-changing, ever-shifting. In the world of Appearance, we cry peace where there is no peace.
The world of Appearance is forever apocalyptic, a world based on dualism and opposition, a consciousness state of division, at war with itself. As our consciousness states go, so goes the world.
We, as individuals and as a species, are being called to live in both realms simultaneously: the realm of Appearance and the realm of the Unseen. We have forced this call upon ourselves by pushing to the limit our living in the world of Appearance and the world of Appearance alone.
It is time to quit farting around and make a leap of consciousness here, to awaken into the reality of the Unseen, to center our consciousnesses firmly in the Unseen, while going about our business in the Apparent. I think that is what the Dance of the Apocalypso is all about. And never mind what you think everyone else is going to do. What are you doing with your shifting of consciousness?

Hey George! Are you trying to take away the tricycle I stole? :)
ReplyDeleteI know it is time to awaken and stop falling back to sleep.
I was awakened by a bell this morning. At first I thought it was the doorbell to my house, so I got out of bed and stumbled downstairs to answer it. But even before I got there (and found no one at the door), I already knew the bell was in my head. That bell has awakened me before. It always conveys the same thought: TIME TO WAKE UP!!! Not just the daily wake up and grab a cup of joe routine, mind you… but WAKE UP!!!! The Big WAKE UP!!!!
It is time to stay awake.
You asked what I am doing with my shifting consciousness. Here is a project I am working on with a friend: www.salamanderfred.com
Our hope is that the more our "family of awareness" realizes we are not alone in this shifting consciousness, the more we will all be encouraged to WAKE UP!!! And once awake, there will be greater access to methods to help stay awake.
It is just a first step and there is much more to do on the site. Would you mind if I added a link to this blog on the "Written Page" page of the site?
Thanks for continuing to help me wake up.
Patrick
Patrick, the appreciation is mutual.
ReplyDeleteSalamanderfred is a cool site. I would be happy to have this blog's link there. Thanks.
You can keep the tricycle. It's okay. I know you ride it down the Sidewalk of Good.
Of course this is philosophically very complicated, as you well know. Your worlds of Appearance and the Unseen remind me of David Bohm's implicate (unseen) and explicate (appearance) orders, where the implicate arises into the explicate and then sinks back again.
ReplyDeleteHowever you look at it, your message is sound, George, as always. Thanks for putting it so well!
Gregory, I appreciate your open consciousness. Thanks for reminding me of David Bohm and his viscous fluid example of the implicate and the explicate. Yes indeed, a similar pointing to the nature of existence. So also with that Islamic spiritual genius Ibn 'Arabi (see William Chittick's translation and depiction in "The Self-Disclosure of God: Principles of Ibn al-'Arabi's Cosmology").
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you, Gregory!
Gregory, Just now read this from Chuang Tzu. Thought you might be interested,
ReplyDelete"In my life there exist shorelines, and in understanding there exist no shorelines. With the existence of shorelines to follow after the no-existence of shorelines is dangerous enough already. He who already knows such danger, and still makes after understanding, is dangerous indeed."
Thanks for the Chuang Tzu wisdom.
ReplyDeleteSee, George, you're a dangerous man indeed!
The world is always ending, is always being renewed. It's a changing world. Are we bound by our flesh? Is the end of what is known the end of all, or only the end of all we have known? Perhaps the leap forward is actually one sideways?
ReplyDeleteJulie, what the heck is a sideways leap?
ReplyDeleteGregory, so are you, my friend!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lateral pass.
ReplyDelete(Um, better?)
Julie, who is there to catch it?
ReplyDeleteTesser.
ReplyDeleteBut all I meant to say in the first place is, sometimes forward movement is not apparently forward.
ReplyDelete::grin::
