Excerpt from The Adventures of Stagger Li --
Viola Trumpett and Lucid Fire sit across from each other, separated by a battered metal table anchored to the floor. The room with one door, no windows, is otherwise empty, except for Viola's briefcase and recording equipment.
"They say you created the greatest spiritual crime of all time."
"You are here to advance your reputation as a spiritual criminologist."
"That may be so. But I am not here to talk about me."
"You cannot see where this tete-a-tete is going, but I know. Mutual satisfaction; the subtle joy of soul connection. You are already getting more than you bargained for."
"Why did you change your name to Lucid Fire?"
"Come now. You can do better than that. Will this surface chatter be the norm for your questions?"
"Please answer."
"I have always been Lucid Fire. The Questioner. The Adversary. The one my Dark Twin relied on for critique and experiential testing. I brought true nature to light, held feet to the fire.
"You two were partners at one time."
"You might say we had a falling out."
