Phantasies are a strong and essential part of human consciousness. When we relegate phantasies to the realm of aimless daydreaming that takes us away from reality, we are fooling ourselves. We are overlooking a virile aspect of who we are and keeping ourselves in a vague hypnotic state.
Of course we phantasize and daydream, but phantasy goes more deeply, is more pervasive, than we may usually consider. For example, you may phantasize that you know who you are. And where you are. You may even phantasize that you know what you are doing. You may also phantasize that you don't know who you are and where you are and that you don't know what you are doing (this is usually the case in transitional states where our former phantasies about such matters are seen to be illusions).
You may also restrict your phantasies, containing them within the thought bubble of conventional society, allowing your mind to wander only within the eco-dome of a servile "democracy" (wearing a smile-button and telling everyone to "have a nice day"). If so, I pray for your release.
Creativity is the realization of phantasy. In a very important sense, we humans are self-creating (co-creators of ourselves). Our phantasies of who we are, where we are, and what we are doing continue to determine what we create -- personally, locally, globally, and beyond. Our phantasies help determine, help create, our future.
Whatever you phantasize, that you are, and that you shall become.
