Dear God,
For some reason (are you reasonable, God? I think you must be beyond reason) you have allowed it to be the case that you are not whole until we humans are whole. I know this must cause you a lot of suffering. Your suffering and mine move as one. And yet I am surrounded by the numinous, that light of the darkly shining mystery that is you. I appreciate this light within the darkness, this numinosity, this luminescence. I like the way the light of consciousness trails out and off into the darkness, and know that you dwell within and are that darkness, and that my consciousness continues to reach out to meet you. I also know I am that darkness which the light within continues to illuminate. This is quite marvelous and I'm having a relatively good time with it. Thank you once again.
Love to you,
George

The spirit is luminous. The mind is like a shade that covers your light. When the mind opens and ceases to be a shade, everything is illuminated. You are the light, and you seek the light, so how can you be darkness?
ReplyDeleteJust like this! Just as I am. And you too. No dark, no light.
ReplyDeleteI experience it differently, John. I am not the light that seeks the light. I am both light and dark. Hence, the Noirior. Light and dark are just another aspect of the dualism we have been trapped in so long. So it is not a matter of "choosing sides" and looking to eternally wear the white hat, with the mind being the barrier to doing so. It is transcending both light and dark through a synthesis that both includes and goes beyond this salt and pepper pair.
ReplyDeleteI think God was in the dark once...didn't he say "Let there be light" then there was light. I wonder how long he abode in the dark? now we have dark/light and i like your metaphor. no dark, no light...no moon. (i gotta think about that one again...my memory is terrible)
ReplyDeleteThanks.
"Let go of the mirror; let go of the light. Be a lamp unto yourself."
ReplyDeleteThat came in my email today from a friend.
The quote was "There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it."
ReplyDelete-Edith Wharton
and my friend responded with the words ..."Let go of the mirror; let go of the light. Be a lamp unto yourself."
still thinking bout that
what about the Fire? isn't that the lifeforce? there is only the fire. do you say there is no fire?
