eye disease

Idolatry occurs where the eye stops -- rather than "seeing through." We see this far and no further -- a form of blindness. Dogma forms around what was once a process but is now an object -- whether it be an object of veneration or of hostility -- whether it be a person or a group or a nation or a people or an idea. This is a psychospiritual form of macular degeneration. We create an eye doll and lose our central vision. Love sees clear through.

You're a funny man, George, with a wonderful in site (pun intended). I once opined in an article that some folks have "misplaced idolatry" toward wolves. You have taken it one step further for me and helped clarify that they have lost their "central vision." That assumes, of course, they had central vision to begin with. Thanks for that.

  2. We tend to pick out one part of creation and look to help it -- a two-edged sword. We do not always know what we are doing (an understatement).
