"knowledge can be attained only by that
which is of the same nature as knowledge"
-- titus burckhardt
"deep calls unto deep" -- psalm 42:7
have never been able to follow a prescribed life
feeding like a contented sheep
until the shepherd came to slit my throat
but have opened to the raw abandon
of wild and elemental forces
teaching my very marrow
al 'arabi says when we look in the mirror
we tend to see our own form
hardly anyone notices the mirror itself
hardly anyone dares
best sit still and sing along with the others

ReplyDeletei remember reading about Aesop. He had a mirror because he liked the mirror for the mirror itself. he carried it with him everywhere along with his very few own items. He learned everything from his masters and everyone around him...good reading in that book.
ReplyDeleteI like your post. Thanks.
Have a great day :)
ps
I asked my husband yesterday morning about nature..our human nature. How does one know his true nature? is it by what he do? we are not who we were yesterday...we are not what we will become tomorrow...we are who we are this moment ...i guess by what we do? I'm just thinking out loud...
kathy, you are a philosopher at heart
