Last night Brad and I had an excellent public conversation over at Mountain Waves Healing Arts on "The Melancholy and Vulnerability of Change." We delved into psychology, martial arts, mythology, consciousness transformation, zen, poetry, Jesus, Moby Dick, mourning, woundedness, the necessity of vulnerability, ritual, the unfinished-business-monster-that-attacks, wanting change and not getting it, not wanting change and getting it, and God loving us so much s/he could eat us up and does. I thought Brad gave some particularly good insights into the mourning process and its value. When Brad and I paused after about an hour and a half, we circled up with the audience participants who shared their own experiences connected to the topic. An energizing evening.
My and Brad's next public conversation will be on Friday evening, December 19. Our topic will be "The Saviors of God" with a focus on our role as humans in birthing God.
We just might get into Nikos Kazantzakis' work in this area, Whitehead's process theism, panentheism, spiritual aikido, the indwelling spirit, and the story behind the story.
